134km2 south of AL Qusseir. It is a suitable place for fishing and diving,connected to Edfu by a desert road 280km long. Due to its proximity to Luxor and the shrine of Abu AL-Hassan AL-Shazli,it is considered a big tourist centre which avails the tourist the chance of visiting the important monumental sites and at the same time enjoying the pleasures of the Red Sea and its exotic beaches.
Berenice
A small town 12km2 south of Marsa Alam,rich in fish and is an excellent therapeutic centre. Offshore,visit the tectonic island of Zabargad,a geological phenomenon which is also famous as the source of the semi-precious gem olivine,mined here from 1500B.C until the mid- 20th century.From Period hill, there are breathtaking views of the surrounding blue lagoons,rich in marine life and home to many dolphins.
